Yoga: Unite your mind, body and spirit.
The word “yoga” literally means “yoke,” or to join or unite – the Mind-Body-Spirit. Combining gentle exercises (asanas) with specific breathing (pranayama) and relaxation techniques, our Yoga participants gain:
- Improved flexibility
- Muscular and postural balance
- Decrease in stress
- Improved diaphragmatic breathing
- Calmer, more focused sense of self
The Rochester Athletic Club offers five different styles of Yoga several times a week, so you can find a class that will meet your needs and your schedule. Download the Yoga Schedule or determine which class is right for you:
Aerial Yoga - Deepen stretches, find proper alignment naturally and receive the benefits of inversions without strain on the joints with this advanced, flowing yoga practice. Prerequisites to this class include: Hatha, Gentle or Power Yoga. Completed health history form is required before joining class (available at the Activities Desk).

Gentle Yoga - A gentler, slower version of Hatha Yoga that induces a calm, cool and relaxed state of being.
Flow Yoga - A challenging body/mind adventure incorporating asanas, breathing and mindfulness for a complete yoga experience. Sculpt a learner, stronger body while releasing stress and fatigue.
Hatha Yoga – Basic yoga postures done mindfully to promote strength, flexibility, improved range of motion and relaxation.
Power Vinyasa - Focused on the breath, practicing asanas (poses) safely and with stability through alignment, this class will challenge participants to find their own edge, building stength and equanimity that will extend into life "off the mat."
Hatha Vinyasa - An all-levels-welcome slower flowing vinyasa class that focuses on elements of traditional hatha yoga by balancing energizing poses with relaxation and restoration.
Prana Flow - A flowing vinyasa style that focuses on breath-initiated movement and the awareness of prana/energy within the body to create empowerment, centeredness, and relaxation.
Dharma Vinyasa - An intense combination of vinyasa yoga (breath combined with a graceful flow of standing postures) and classical yoga which re-integrates the continuous flow of prana deep into all areas of the physical, metabolic and inuitive body. Classes include asana, breathing exercises, meditation and deep relaxation.
Power Yoga – A vigorous, athletic style of yoga that will challenge students with quicker transitions between poses, building heat and flexibilty.
